On Monday, March 16, Lincoln County Schools informed the public that their campuses would be shut down due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Superintendents from all four Lincoln County School Districts met with the Lincoln County Health Department regarding the virus and it was decided to close all campuses, including extracurricular activities and facility usage through April 5. Classes will resume on April 6.
The following is information sent out to the community through a letter from the schools superintendents:
As you know, the safety and security of our students and staff are a top priority, and we feel that these measures are necessary. We are a learning institution, and providing a quality education to every child in our district is also at the top of our list. We recognize the hardship this places on families and will do our best to provide structure, learning, and community support through this time of uncertainty.
There are many questions about the next steps, schedules, and support. I assure you that our team is working diligently to prepare and move forward in the best way possible. As we continue to plan, information will be forthcoming.
We are working on at-home activities and the processes available to put these in the hands of each student. In addition to the alternative methods of instruction, the District is working on ways to make take-out meals available. More information will be provided in the next few days.
Our custodial and maintenance staff are already at work deep cleaning our buildings and buses to prepare for when our students and staff return.
Throughout our closure, we ask that students and staff follow the CDC guidance - practice social distancing, stay at home, wash your hands, and practice good respiratory hygiene. Contact the Lincoln County Health Department with questions or concerns specifically related to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Thank you for your continued patience and partnership as we work to slow the spread of the coronavirus and keep our families safe.
