Playing a musical instrument can be challenging enough, much less playing it and walking at the same time.
This school year there are 62 students in the Elsberry High School marching band, including flags and a baton twirler. Normally, the marching band will start practice before school starts in August with a camp and continues through October. The band will generally attend six to eight contests a year, however, this year has been unique for the EHS band. Rebecca Cooper, band director, has been gone on maternity leave until the first part of October, so marching has been kept to a minimum without her presence.
The EHS band performed at the opening ceremonies of the Lincoln County Old Threshers event this past Friday and will be an active participant in the annual Fall Festival parade and band competition on Saturday.
