The Joseph R. Palmer Family Memorial Library will host its annual dinner/fundraiser on March 30 in the Elsberry High School Gymnasium.
This year’s event will feature a Mardi Gras theme, and the entertainment will be provided by Cornet Chop Suey, a seven-piece band that is not only well-known locally, but has also performed in Europe, South America, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and Germany.
The group is named for a little-known Louis Armstrong tune, and their website boasts that “every performance by Cornet Chop Suey is a high-energy presentation and is always a memorable experience for the audience.”
Proceeds from the event will help cover the costs incurred in the library’s effort to maintain and improve the services that it offers to the community.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The band will perform from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
The event, which will include a silent auction, is open to the public.
Library board members stress that, although a number of personal invitations have already been mailed out, one does not need to receive an invitation in order to purchase tickets and attend.
March 20 is the final day for ticket sales.
Anyone interested in purchasing tickets is urged to either visit the library in person or contact a staff member at 573-898-5821.
