NHS Festival

National Honor Society students hold their Halloween festival at Troy Buchanan High School last year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 version will be an outdoor “drive-through” version.

On Oct. 21, the Troy Buchanan High School National Honor Society will be hosting a Drive-Through “Trunk or Treat” in the high school’s parking lot.

“At this event, students will be decorating their trunks, dressing up, and handing out candy as you drive your family through the designated parking area,” Brittany Hosmer, the NHS adviser said.

Last year’s Halloween event took place inside of the high school, but has been moved outside with a new format due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Vehicles will be spaced out with limits of three students per car to ensure social distancing. Hand sanitizer will also be readily available.

The trunk or treat will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and there will be a photo opportunity for your family at the end of the route. This event is free, but donations will be taken that will go toward The Key and Youth Empowered Service Team, which serve homeless youth in Troy.

“Please dress up with your family and come for this fun event.” Hosmer said.
